Comeback Pattinson dangerous

TEST quick James Pattinson was fast and dangerous in his comeback game from a foot injury, as Victoria’s second eleven faced South Australia. Pattinson claimed 3-25 from 10 overs in Adelaide yesterday as the home side was bowled out for 295. Not only did the 21-year-old take two wickets in two balls in the first over after lunch, Pattinson also struck Alex Ross on the elbow in the same over, causing the batsman to retire hurt. Victoria coach Greg Shipperd said Pattinson could return to first-class action next Monday in Perth against Western Australia. Pattinson, who played four Tests in December and January, is building his fitness base before Australia’s Test tour of the West Indies in April. Advertisement: Story continues below

Kewell roars, Brisbane wins

BRISBANE Roar held its nerve against eighth-placed Melbourne Victory last night to notch a third straight win and remain five points behind A-League leader Central Coast after a thrilling game in Queensland. Victory’s Harry Kewell was in fine form scoring a double, but he was matched by Roar’s marksman Besart Berisha who did the same – including a strike after only 43 seconds of playing time. Berisha has now notched 15 goals for the season to lead the A-League scorers’ list from Perth’s Shane Smeltz and Newcastle’s Jeremy Brockie with nine. Advertisement: Story continues below
